M.I. Ryanne Driscoll
As there is hidden light within the darkness there is also color within shadow… love within beauty and hope within sorrow.

Ryanne’s art deals with themes based on humanism and mythology. Assemblies of human, animal and landscape forms are expressed through a style bordering on expressive representation and fantasy. The figure studies are ontological in approach and explore themes relating to the human spirits struggle for self-reflection and survival. Her paintings are often dark and moody and the colors are applied in a deep bright manner creating an overall effect of a rich colorful layered darkness.

I work in a variety of mediums in a traditional and non-traditional manner. My traditional practice includes original watercolors, acrylic paintings on canvas and mixed media drawing works. In addition I do writing that I sometimes incorporate as text into the image. I am also a photographer and a computer digital fine artist. In this part of my art practice I combine or merge my photo-based images together with my traditionally created art works using digital imaging methods and techniques. A digital file is created and the image is then printed onto arches archival paper using archival inks. The result is an original fine art digital print.

The phantom wolves and dark fragmented forest imagery symbolize the decaying, endangered natural environment and its species... animal, plant and human. My work may appear to express a personal vision or narrative theme, however, it is my intention that the images should further invoke or inspire the viewers to form their own private interpretations and impressions.

Working in the visual arts remains for me an ever-evolving process and a constant creative challenge. I am committed to excellence in my practice and am passionately involved in making art that communicates and inspires.
